This process uses a vaporized formaldehyde gas to sterilize items. Since it is a low-temperature process, it is compatible with items that can be damaged, or destroyed, by high temperature and/or high moisture sterilization methods. Tempilinks® are most commonly used in producing Type 1 indicators. They may also be used as elements to help create Type 3, Type 4, and Type 5 indicators.
